If It's Not Okay For Men...Is It Okay For Women?

The constant saying...men have no respect for women. To me...when it comes to the bitch and hoe thing ...they arent to be blamed completely.... because honestly I believe that is partly the fault of women themselves. Men call women bitches and hoes because women call each other bitches and hoes. Yea I understand sometimes it is just to play around like "hahaha bitch you funny" or you are just friends that use bitch and hoe to refer to each other...but if your friend can call you a bitch or a hoe...why cant he? Ive heard this discussed before and it kinda went in depth this weekend..but there was never a final reason for when women found it "ok" to call each other bitches and hoes but when men use it to refer to them...they are in the wrong. Or sometimes girls spot other girls at the club and are like "nuh uh..what is she wearing?..she a hoe" but if a guy said it then he would be "disrespectful". Ive even seen away messages that say "at the mall with my bitches" or "me and my hoes about to hit the club". lol...what?... I understand those are your friends but what if a guy were to read that away message and choose to call you and your friends bitches or hos because he thought it was okay since you did it...did you ever think of that? When Lil Wayne or Snoop or somebody says bitch or hoe in their song everyone sings along...even the women. They are very disrespectful words but are the words becoming a little numb to us now? It seems like many people use it so much on a regular basis. So don't just blame the men for using these words...unless you havent referred to yourself or havent called another girl a bitch or a hoe...you are in no place to talk. You set the example. Oh speaking of example..I have one...lol. This one girl was saying she was talking to her guy friend about a party she was having and she mentioned a name of a girl she invited...his reaction was "oh man you inviting that hoe?" She was surprised and asked him why he called her a hoe. His response..."my homegirls said shes a hoe"...lol...smh. Perfect example. Still the question asked by many...but does not seem to have an answer...when did it become "ok" to call each other bitches and hoes? My advice would be to expand your vocabulary girls and try to find and use other words to call each other...try to avoid bitch and hoe..and maybe that will decrease the male usage.

Well my thoughts on the subject are as follows:

1) People should not be offended of the words are not used in a derogatory manner to degrade the women they are referring too.

2) A word only has the power to hurt if u give it that power....for example: Nigga

There are always gonna be words like that and its up to each person individually to say whether or not they are gonna allow for those usages.

these words have almost just become apart of people vocabulary..which is sad to say & im guilty of this as well & yes people should not be offended by words if they are not directed in a derogatory manner but i think we should take a step back and reevalute ourselves if we think calling each other bitches and hoes are terms of endearment. you really can't get mad @ guys when they call u out of your name when you do it yourself. so im going to make a conscious effort to stop saying these words when referring to my friends & ppl i dont even kno.
wow that was one loonng run on sentence above lmao

well sometime these words really do describe people..and i think the problem is is that we take words out of context and use them so freely to describe little things that really have no relevance to the word being used..and this happens a lot when people think it's ok to you when describing someone like "oh she pretty, oh she's a b!tch.." - that's not ok! only when someone really acts that way is it ok to use such descriptive words..

Yea its true that if it is not used in a derogatory manner then no one should be offended but then again...using it so blatantly is gonna make it even more common than it is now and men are just gonna keep referring to women as bitches and hoes because even though some women DONT use it as a derogatory term...some men see women accept being called a bitch or a hoe so they use it. These terms are definitely not innate to anyone...so the example has to come from someone.

And Okay yea I agree that "hoe" does indeed describe some people. But when it comes to "bitch"...there is definitely another word that can be used. Synonyms!...lets find synonyms!...lol

Lol.. This is funny cuz me & my friends use those words to describe each other often.. "Aye bitch", etc.. or "With these hoes..", Lol but as far as a nigga callin me a bitch/hoe.. I dont really give a fuck. Lol I call niggas bitches more than they call me one..I know I'm not a hoe so if someone were to call me one, I really wouldnt care. As long as you know what you are, why does it matter what someone calls you. People only disrespect as you as much as you let them

Lol...Yea I agree with you.

My problem is with the females that call each other bitches and hoes and even call themselves one but when a guy calls them out their name they get all defensive and mad and call them disrespectful. You use the word...you call yourself that...and even if it isnt true why cant the guys? If it is such a common word for you to use...why cant they?

I guess it all comes down to whether you have enough confidence in yourself to not stoop to the guys level. Commenter above me ...you are right and so is veronica "A word only has the power to hurt if you give it that power"... "As long as you know what you are, why does it matter what someone calls you".

So basically the bitch and hoe thing should not be used against guys...you know what you are...maybe if you give no reaction to it...eventually guys will find knew words cuz bitch and hoe will no longer phase us...and become so played out...lol

Btw i forgot to add...

Erica and Beth made a good point that if someone acts like a hoe then they should be called one...however, who is the ultimate decider on the status of someone else's behavior??? We as women just need to stop hating on each other and lift each other up cause the men sho aint doin it! And i agree with Beth lets please find a new word for bitch because last time i checked the correct meaning for bitch was female dog...i have yet to meet a woman or man who has any similar behaviors as a female dog...are there any specific characteristics of female dogs that could be seen in a derogatory sense as opposed to a male dog??? lol...

Thats true. How is someone a female dog? I would see maybe if they were having sex and a nigga wanted to be like bitch bend over to his girl and she got on all fours then maybe she would be a female dog but how else does someone earn the name of bitch?

LMAO

hahaha...Yep you made a good point. Thats why I'm sayin...lets find synonyms!
